Our respiratory mask fit testing not only meets academic and workplace requirements but is essential for anyone working in environments with potential contamination risks, such as labs, isolation rooms, and health science professions.

The fit testing price is generally $40.00 per person, subject to factors like group size. For an accurate test, participants must arrive knowing the make and model of the mask to be tested.

During the fitting, participants engage in a qualitative fit test, the preferred method for half-mask testing. This involves practical exercises where participants learn to don, position, and adjust respirators for an acceptable fit. They then wear the mask for a minimum of 5 minutes to assess comfort before rigorous tests confirm the pressure seals, ensuring a secure fit.

Respirator fit testing is crucial for verifying that employees can properly wear the necessary protection for their job tasks. It ensures that the respirator provides an effective seal on each individual's unique face shape, essential for safeguarding against workplace hazards.

Fit testing, as per Alberta OHS Guidelines, must occur when first issued and then at least every two years thereafter, or if there are changes in respirator type, workplace conditions, or the worker's facial features. The test itself takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

We offer both qualitative and quantitative fit testing. Quantitative testing, considered more accurate, employs a computerized machine to measure air pressure and calculate mask effectiveness. Qualitative testing involves irritant smoke or agents like bitrex, relying on the wearer's senses for pass or fail outcomes.
